HHSC has renewed the Texas Medicaid Standing Order for Mosquito Repellent. The standing order is now available for use with the mosquito repellent benefit for people enrolled in Medicaid (traditional and managed care), CHIP, and the Healthy Texas Women (HTW) Program.
Pharmacy staff must obtain a copy of the renewed standing order, effective Feb 18, 2021, by submitting a request via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. The previous standing order expires on Feb. 17, 2021.
- Pharmacies or pharmacists not operating under the standing order will require a prescription from a valid healthcare provider before dispensing mosquito repellent to people enrolled in Medicaid, CHIP, or HTW.
- The standing order is valid for one year. Do not send refill requests to the physician listed on the standing order, Dr. Van Ramshorst. Pharmacies should use the standing order if a new prescription is required.
- For people enrolled in the Children with Special Health Care Needs Services Program, the standing order does not apply. A prescription for mosquito repellent from a health care provider is always required.
