2021-22 Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) Season Ends February 1

January 21, 2022

HHSC will close the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) season in all regions on February 1, 2022. The 2021-22 traditional RSV season began on October 1, 2021, and is considered separate from the inter-seasonal RSV activities observed during the summer of 2021. HHSC based this decision on the Texas RSV task force and HHSC Office of the Medical Director's recommendation because of the continued decrease in RSV test positivity below the 5% threshold for two consecutive weeks.

HHSC will continue to monitor RSV across the state and notify the public about any updates needed to access Synagis prophylaxis treatment.
