VDP coordinates with drug companies to ensure a comprehensive Texas Drug Code Index for the following programs:

  • Medicaid
  • Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)
  • Children with Special Health Care Needs (CSHCN) Services Program
  • Healthy Texas Women (HTW) Program
  • Kidney Health Care (KHC) Program

HHSC requires drug companies to complete the Electronic Certificate of Information (ECOI) for the state to consider drugs for coverage on the formulary or when an existing drug on the formulary has a new formulation or the labeler changes. The ECOI is a browser-based submission portal allowing drug companies to submit their required information, monitor status, and store their submittals. To begin the process, drug companies must request access using the ECOI Portal Access (HHS Form 1403).
