2. Duration of Therapy

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is defined in DSM-V-TR as a persistent pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity-impulsivity that interferes with functioning or development⁴¹ . While many of the approved medications improve inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity, symptoms may persist lifelong with less pronounced hyperactivity. Therefore, treatment often lasts well into adulthood, and ADHD is considered a chronic disorder.
